West-Östliche Weisheit

West-Östliche Weisheit Print

combining the wisdom of Eastern religions and Christianity and acting as

a forum for transconfessional spirituality

“The “West-Östliche Weisheit”, literally translated as Western-Eastern wisdom, is concerned with leading people to the transpersonal source of life, from which we all draw our strength. Everyone is invited to follow this spiritual path, whether they belong to a religion or not. This “Sophia perennis” path, the path to eternal wisdom described and taught in all kinds of books and institutions throughout the world, goes beyond individual dogmas and creeds. It is a spiritual path, intending to lay open the transconfessional roots of the world’s religions.

The West-Östliche Weisheit practices, teaches and researches the fundamental structure of the spiritual paths of Eastern religions and Christianity, a practice transcending traditions. Going back thousands of years, this practice is common to all religions and today more current than ever. It guides us in our day-to-day lives, the place where we can prove ourselves, helping us to train our consciousness in all aspects, whether physical, mental or spiritual.”

Wiligis Jäger

Drawing its inspiration from Willigis Jäger, the well-known spiritual teacher, Benedictine monk and Zen master, a large international community has developed over the past decade, itself at the root of a number of projects. On the following pages you will find information on the most important locations, organisations and projects of our community.

The Benediktushof in Holzkirchen near Wurzburg is a centre for spiritual pathways of both Eastern religions and Christianity. It is not just our community’s central location, but also the home of the Zen “Leere Wolke” (“Empty Cloud”) lineage and of the contemplation school. These schools, both founded by Willigis Jäger, work closely together and constitute the cornerstones of the whole “West-Östliche Weisheit”  building. The same-named “West-Östliche Weisheit Willigis Jäger Stiftung“, the foundation set up by Willigis Jäger, also has its headquarters at the Benediktushof. The foundation operates as our community’s communication platform, providing an organisational framework for the work of Willigis Jäger und acting as a wide-reaching guiding light for the spiritual change occurring in today’s modern society.

We greatly hope that the following pages on the various organisations and activities of the Benediktushof and the West-Östliche Weisheit Foundation are of interest to you and that we will be able to greet you as a guest or course participant in the near future.
